Signs Your Septic System Needs Service
Do not wait until it becomes an emergency. These warning signs mean your septic system needs attention now.
- Soggy or unusually lush grass over your drain field
- Gurgling sounds from drains or toilets after flushing
- Sewage backup into tubs, sinks, or floor drains
- Slow flushing toilets or multiple slow drains at once
- Sewage odors indoors or near the tank and drain field
- Standing water near the tank or drain field after dry weather
If you notice any of these signs, call (715) 227-5244 before the situation gets worse.
Holding Tank Pumping and Alarm Testing
Holding tanks are not the same as septic systems. They have no drain field and store all waste until pumped. Without regular service, overflow is only a matter of time.
Most holding tanks need pumping every 4 to 8 weeks depending on household size. We help you set the right interval so you never have an overflow.
Every service includes testing the float switch and alarm to confirm it alerts you before the tank is full. A working alarm is your only early warning.
A full holding tank backs sewage directly into your home. Regular pumping on a set schedule is the only way to prevent overflow. We offer maintenance plans to keep you on track.
Full pump-out, float switch test, alarm check, and access lid inspection. We document everything and flag any issues before they become an emergency.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I pump my septic tank?
Most households need pumping every 3 to 5 years, depending on tank size and the number of occupants. Smaller households may stretch to 5 years; larger households or homes with garbage disposals may need service every 2 to 3 years. The best way to know is to have the tank inspected so we can measure the solids level directly.
What are the signs my septic system needs service?
Common warning signs include slow drains in multiple fixtures at once, gurgling sounds in toilets or drains, sewage odors indoors or near the drain field, wet or spongy ground over the drain field, and unusually lush grass above the tank area. Any of these means the system needs attention before a full failure occurs.
What is the difference between a septic tank and a holding tank?
A septic tank treats wastewater on-site. Solids settle at the bottom, and liquid effluent flows out to a drain field where it is filtered through the soil. A holding tank has no drain field and stores all waste until it is pumped out. Holding tanks require more frequent service and have alarms to alert you when they are nearly full.
Can I use chemical drain cleaners if I have a septic system?
No. Chemical drain cleaners kill the beneficial bacteria inside your septic tank that break down waste. Without that biological activity, solids accumulate faster and the system fails sooner. If you have a slow drain connected to a septic system, address it mechanically. Do not pour chemical cleaners down any drain connected to a septic tank.
How much does septic pumping cost?
Cost varies based on tank size, accessibility, and how long since the last service. We provide a written estimate before any work begins so you know exactly what you are paying. Contact us for current pricing based on your specific system.
